ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada -- The Planning Committee, which organized and coordinated Prime Minister’s Keith Mitchell’s Birthday Celebration in New York last month, is now working with the head of state to launch a scholarship foundation.
The foundation’s aim is to assist Grenadian students studying abroad more, Mitchell’s office said in a statement this week. The statement added that the plan is just one of the initiatives emanating out of discussions between the prime minister and members of the Planning Committee.
“During these discussions the prime minister communicated to the New York group his desire to assist students who are studying abroad even further. Prime Minister Mitchell and the committee members agreed that additional assistance is sometimes required for students as they sometimes encounter situations where they need additional resources,” said the statement.
Details of the Foundation are set to be unveiled at the launch in April 2007.
